Description
Try yourself at big game fishing near the shores of Zadar, where the first written evidence of Croatian fishing culture stems from. Specializing in locating the biggest fish in the Adriatic Sea, our charters offer you an experience of a lifetime going after the tuna fish.
During the 10 hours with us, you will get to know all the procedures and techniques of hooking the enormous sea predator. The ship’s captain will teach you how to handle all the equipment, react when the fish bites, and get it on the deck.
Once you are familiar with everything, it will be a game of waiting. But the real fun begins when one of your rods goes off, and the action of pulling the fish on the boat commences. We do not doubt that you will be successful and fill the boat freezer up to the brink with tuna.
You will return to the culturally rich city of Zadar in the late afternoon or early evening, just as they did in the old days, with the ship full of fish to be eaten for dinner.
Fish
Atlantic Bluefin tuna is the main species of tuna found in the Mediterranean sea, and with that, in the Adriatic. With the oldest specimens being more than 50 years old and weighing more than 300 kg, this fish is one of the greatest predators who dwell in this part of the ocean.
This predator is a competitor of tuna, but it’s not as widely spread in the Adriatic sea, leaving more living space for its contestant.
The Mahi-mahi or dolphinfish is a less known inhabitant of the Adriatic sea, as it is usually associated with tropical places due to its diverse colors. On its body, you can find a mixture of gold, green and yellow, with some silver added on the belly.
Fishing captains
Captain Ivan specializes in extreme Croatian fishing charters, fishing for tuna, blue shark, and amberjack. He has more than ten years of experience as a professional captain and is especially good at teaching beginners. His passion also includes cooking, which culminated in his own restaurant, which is famous for fresh seafood. No wonder, since the tunas are transported directly from the sea onto a plate.

Things to know
The price is per boat, no matter how many anglers are fishing. If there’s not enough of you to fill the boat, there’s a chance during high season to join more individuals until the boat is full and then split the expenses. Fill out the contact form for more information.
If the forecast is not suitable for fishing (lots of rain, big waves) and the captain decides it’s not safe to go fishing, the trip is postponed or canceled and you get a refund.
You’ll need proper clothing, sunscreen and lots of enthusiasm. The complete list can be found here.
Your captain is going to be the captain of the ship. Captains have immense knowledge of the terrain they’re fishing, they know the secret spots and location of the fish so you’ll have the best chance of catching a good fish.
You can choose the trip that is closest to you or if you specifically like one of our captains, you can also take a drive to the harbor where his boat is docked and join him. List of tuna fishing captains
Your fishing permit is already included in the price.
This differs from trip to trip. On most trips, you get drinks and snacks, on some even a proper meal, but that does not apply for all charters. To be sure, check the details of your trip.
If you want to book accommodation before or after the fishing trip, let us know and we will organize your stay.
